100 Days of Summer, The Finale

In my book summer really ended when I went back to work. At least the summer I once knew. But here is the end of our 100 Days of Summer project. I'm already looking forward to next summer's 100 Days. Quinn will be so big. Next up...first birthdays and real blog posts.

{Day 92:August 29}

First day of school and first day of daycare stripes!
{Day 93:August 30}

Soooo they made a new, and much nicer, road to Bennett. It actually fits two cars. I was super excited and it's still mind blowing, really.
{Day 94:August 31}

New favorite activity.
{Day 95:September 1}

Quinn's first painting!!!
{Day 96:September 2}

Bugs on the morning walk at daycare
{Day 97:September 3}

Gameday!!!!
{Day 98:September 4}

Making stuffed peppers for the freezer!
{Day 99:September 5}

Fully gated.
{Day 100:September 6}

Quinn is a cat lady. This cat has been visiting our yard and she couldn't be happier about it. Don't worry, I'm still "allergic."

Life Lately

It's been awhile since I posted anything but a recipe or some weekly statistics about Baby K. I suppose baby prep has been keeping us busy, and sometimes I just don't feel like mustering up a blog post. So before life changes forever here are some random thoughts and things that we have been up to...

Fall: I love fall! October is one of my favorite months of the year! We are finally cooling off in Virginia (it's actually very cool the past three days) which is makes it feel like we should be doing fall things. We also get to open the windows! We visited a farm up the road last weekend to pick some pumpkins and we've been enjoying some more fall-like recipes at our house. I'm even liking some butternut squash this year. Stay tuned for a recipe.

Football Season: Probably the best part of fall is football weekends! Sadly, though, none of my teams are very stellar this year. Saturday mornings we start off with College Gameday and then we are usually lucky enough to get the Penn State game each weekend. Steeler games are a little harder to come by on Sundays with the DMV having two home teams, but the Steelers are usually 3rd in line so that's good. We shouldn't even get into how bad my fantasy team is this year. Embarrassing.

On Being Overdue: I'm five days overdue. It's weird. It's like we are living on the edge. I'm OK with it. I'm enjoying the simple life, but I have to tell you I was pretty much checked out of work toward the end of last week, especially when the doctor told me there would be a good chance to have the baby last weekend. I'm not really sure what the baby is doing in there, or when it thinks it should come out. I have walked and walked some more, I've had my membranes swept (TWICE), I've had some spicy food, and all those other things people think you should do...I've done some of them, but Baby K just hangs out like nothing happened.

TV: I'm glad fall TV is back. We have been enjoying Wednesday night TV at our house, and of course Shark Tank, one of the few agreed upon shows at our house. And have you been watching Jeopardy? There was a contestant that was on a roll and highly entertaining, but his run ended last week. We were a little devastated. Lastly, we are currently using a trial of Amazon Prime...in which I discovered they carry The Sopranos. I have been wanting to watch that show for a long time. Critics rank it up there with Breaking Bad and Mad Men.

On the Last Days of Being a Party of 2: Matt and I have very much been enjoying, and taking advantage of, our last days as just the two of us. This pretty much means we sleep in on the weekends, leave our house on a whim, go out to dinner, and basically just enjoy our life of leisure. It's weird to think that I'm going to leave my house one morning and come back with a different life.

Stay tuned...next time you hear from me I will actually be With a Little Flare :)

Friday Love

Happy Friday! Summer is flying by. We are headed north tomorrow to visit Matt's family and enjoy some vacation time. Our last vacation as a party of two. Yikes. Enjoy your weekend!

{ONE}

Serial. I'm a little late to the game on this one. During my long walks in the morning I have been listening to Serial, the podcast. I'm so glad I did. It's so good! The first season, which came out last fall, chronicles the case of Adnan Syed who was convicted of murdering his high school girlfriend. It's so interesting to theorize about with other listeners. I'm looking forward to season two!

{TWO}

Bloodline. Matt and I needed a new Netflix show since the conclusion of Mad Men. We tried out Rectify, but it wasn't for us. We landed on Bloodline, and I'm pretty into it. It's not Breaking Bad, but it's been good to watch.

{THREE}

Garden Peppers. We had our first big bunch of peppers this week. I tried growing banana and jalapeno peppers this summer and I'm excited about how many we've had. I made stuffed peppers for dinner one night. I have never had a jalapeno so spicy. Seriously. Still delicious!

{FOUR}

Back to Basics. Penn State announced they are going back to no name jerseys this season! Yay for tradition! WE ARE!

{FIVE}

Pregnancy Advice. I can't say I've had too many weird things said to me yet, but I have heard a lot about the advice given at 1 minute into this video.

Friday Love

{Friday Love} on Saturday! I did actually have this written and ready to post last night, but totally forgot to click publish! We went on a baby shopping spree of sorts and I guess I got caught up in all that and neglected my blog. We are headed to a birthday party this morning, and if all goes as planned I might be making my first appearance at Mount Vernon tomorrow. I've never been! Have a great weekend!

{ONE}

Zoku Popsicle Molds. I mentioned my popsicle craving earlier this week, and I am so enjoying the Zoku Classic molds that I bought to make them. They are the perfect size. Zoku sells a bunch of different sizes and shapes and options. I just want to buy them all now and fill my freezer with a multitude of flavors!

{TWO}

PSU Football Hype Video. YAY! I love football season, but let's not rush. I'm still enjoying summer. This did make me more excited that I am having a football season baby. Crossing my fingers for a PSU vs. OSU delivery. I know that's a little weird.

{THREE}

Maiden Names. Women keeping their last name is back on the rise. Proud to be a part of that statistic!

{FOUR}

The Nest. Our Nest thermostat is saving my hot, pregnant life this summer. I try to conserve energy (read save money) and not run our air conditioner constantly in this Virginia heat, but it's getting harder. I have to say not having to get up, or go downstairs, to adjust the temperature is lovely.

{FIVE}

Slow Miles. I have been getting better about getting myself out to walk almost everyday for the last couple weeks. I am so, so slow, but I suppose it's better than nothing. It also makes me feel a little more productive in life. I'm hoping this pays off in the end!

Friday Love

{ONE}

Snowcation. So here is what my week looked like: Monday: President's Day holiday, Tuesday: Snow Day, Wednesday: Snow Day, Thursday: Two Hour Delay/School, Friday: Too Cold for School Day. I worked like seven hours this week. Thank you February.

{TWO}

Every Kid in a Park. While watching the news last night I heard about this 'Every Kid in a Park' thing. I think it's great. Apparently every 4th grader and their family gets free admission to all national parks. So awesome. I would start with Rocky Mountain National Park, 4th graders.

{THREE}

THON. It's Dance Marathon Weekend at PSU!!! This weekend is hands down the BEST thing that goes on in Happy Valley, and you know how many good things I think happen there. Tune into the live feed sometime this weekend {HERE}. Can't wait to see this year's total! Also, I just came to the realization I danced 10 YEARS AGO! TEN YEARS!!!

{FOUR}

Friends on Netflix. I have been reliving the 90's recently while watching the first season of Friends on Netflix. It's been fun reminiscing with Rachel's haircut and all the fashion trends of the time. Watch a few...it will take you back :)

{FIVE}

Dole Whip. It's like a pineapple float. I had my first on last month in Florida. Incase you didn't see the recipe I posted last night, make sure you take a look. So delicious and so simple.

Thanksgiving Break

We had a wonderful time visiting Pittsburgh over the Thanksgiving holiday. In addition to spending Thanksgiving day with our family, we were also able to take advantage of some Pittsburgh culture and a last minute side trip to Penn State.

Warhol's Silver Clouds
We ended up getting a little bit of a bonus day the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Matt had already taken the day off from work so we could leave around lunch time when I was finished with school. We changed our minds on Tuesday evening when winter weather was predicted for our route to Pittsburgh. We decided to take our extra day and spend it at the Andy Warhol Museum downtown.
Silk Screenings
The museum is seven floors completely dedicated to the life and artwork of Warhol. It is recommended that you take the elevator to the top of the museum and work your way down. That's what we did. What I really liked about the museum was the way that it was organized, each floor showed a decade of Andy Warhol's life. I also liked going and looking at Warhol's artwork that was recognizable and relatable to someone like me. I felt like the museum also did a good job showcasing Warhol's other endeavors and the events in his life as well. They also made connections between the artwork and American culture at the time.

Warhol's Screen Tests
On Friday we were able to go to the Penguins game with my parents. We had tickets that were right on the ice. We had a good time watching and feeling like we were part of the action. We had a lot of hockey players being shoved into us and pucks flying at the glass. It was a little bit scary, but definitely really cool. I don't think there is any other sport where you can get so close to the action.

Saturday we took an impromptu trip to Penn State. My sister was given some extra tickets and Matt and I decided to take advantage of them. We arrived in State College right before game time, so we didn't have much time to spend in town or tailgating, but since it was so cold that probably worked out for the best. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see a very good game, but it's always fun and exciting to be in Beaver Stadium and to visit Penn State!

After the game we drove back to Virginia. It was a long day, but definitely worth it. Now we are back into the work routine and looking forward to Christmas break! Only 2.5 more weeks!

Friday Love. On Saturday...

It has been a crazy week - full of ups and downs. I had to do school work! Yikes, summer is wrapping up soon! I'm so lucky to have all these people to make my {Friday Love} possible. Yesterday was so super busy, so this {Friday Love} didn't get to make it's appearance until Saturday. Better late than never :)

{ONE}

Penn State Pump Up Video. It's always hard to transition back to the school year, but I've always said that football season makes it a little bit easier. The PSU pump up video came out this week. I love the connection to Lion King.

{TWO}

2 years. We celebrated our second anniversary this week. We enjoyed a dinner at Farmers Fishers Bakers in Georgetown and then walked to Georgetown Cupcake after. We had cupcakes on our wedding day and ate cupcakes last year on our first anniversary. It's a nice tradition.

{THREE}

My Boo. On Friday I attended a professional development day. Like I said in {one} it's never easy to go back to work, but getting to hang out with my former co-counselor made it bearable. That and conspiring to make it an abridged version of the day.

{FOUR}

50 years. On Friday we celebrated my friend's 50th birthday. They went to the movies while I was professionally developing, and I joined them at a winery later. Then her family threw her a surprise party that we got her to later in the evening. Very fun!

{FIVE}

Fun Lunch. On Thursday I went downtown to meet Matt for lunch. I also got to do a little people watching on Capitol Hill while I waited for him at Starbucks - and did some school stuff. It's fun to be able to get to do stuff that normally isn't possible during the school year.

Friday Love

{ONE}

$13,343,517.33. That's how much PSU Dance Marathon raised last weekend for the Four Diamonds Fund, a charity benefiting childhood cancer. I'm always proud to be a Penn Stater, but that record breaking total is just one more reason.

{TWO}

Crockpot Monday. Each Monday the 5th grade team at my work does a rotating schedule where someone brings lunch for the whole team, this year I joined the rotation. It was my turn this week. I'm sure you will see the recipe I used on my blog soon. Not having to pack lunch on Sunday nights and having a delicious lunch makes Mondays a little bit easier.

{THREE}

Cookbooks in the Library. Today I went into the library at school and saw these cute little cookbooks for kids laid out on one of the tables. I hope my friends check them out and become little chefs!

{FOUR}

The Nest. Matt desperately wanted the Nest thermostat. I talked him out of it multiple times. Then I decided to be a nice wife and surprised him with it on Valentine's Day. It is pretty cool. You can control it from your phone and it learns your schedule so it can adjust itself. We are still learning how to use it to it's fullest potential. When I win the lottery I am going to buy the smoke alarms too.

{FIVE}

Doug Kamerer. He's the local meterologist. I just love him and his snow day predictions. He's been quite a fixture in our living room this snowy winter. He has been bringing me a lot of good news. Currently, I'm feeling very conflicted about his ideas for Monday.

Friday Love

Today's {Friday Love} will feature only one thing. It's one of my top loves in my life: Penn State Dance Marathon. In my life I have tried to describe THON to many people. It can't be done, or maybe I should say a personal account will never do it justice. You have to experience it to fully understand it. There is truly nothing like it. You can only tell someone so much about 48 straight hours of no sitting, no sleeping madness. THON is just so much love all together in one place. It's indescribable. I feel so blessed to have been a dancer in 2005, and a moraler all my other years of college. It was truly one of my greatest experiences as a Penn Stater.

Just an hour ago 700 dancers stood up, and they will be up all weekend long, along with thousands of other students raising money for pediatric cancer. If you have a chance, watch the live feed, especially Sunday if you can. You might get an idea of what a great place Penn State is and what it means when we say WE ARE...PENN STATE!

2013 Friday Love

In honor of the year 2013, I want to recap it's top ten moments for this {Friday Love} post. Overall, it's been a big and fabulous year, and we should end it on a positive note. I can only hope 2014 trumps 2013. I'm crossing my fingers. Happy New Year, friends!

{ONE}

New Orleans. In January, Matt and I traveled to New Orleans. He was there for work, and I went along to have fun.

{TWO}

THON. Penn State Dance Marathon raised a record breaking $12,374,034.46.

{THREE}

Bowling. I can't even begin to describe my involvement with the bowling league. Looking back it was a great decision. It kept me busy while Matt was at class, it brought me closer with some great friends, and it was all around comedy every. single. Thursday. {THREE} also goes to Game Nights! I have never wrote a game night only post, but I have mentioned it in many posts. Game nights took over for bowling and I love it!

{FOUR}

Buying a House! This is probably the top moment of 2013. Definitely a big accomplishment!

{FIVE}

Burlington, Boston, and Maine. Summer vacation.

{SIX}

One Year. Matt and I celebrated our first anniversary. We went to Ray's the Steaks and ate cupcakes at home, like our wedding :)

{SEVEN}

30. I had a big birthday.

{EIGHT}

Oktoberfest. We started a tradition of holding an Oktoberfest. First in Pittsburgh, then in Virginia.

{NINE}

Penn State vs. Michigan. My whole family traveled to Penn State and saw one of the greatest games in PSU football history!

{TEN}

Running. I wouldn't have though I would be posting this as ten on my list in January, but I decided to train for a half marathon. Let's hope it makes the top events of 2014!

Recipe of the Week!

Grilled Jalapeno Poppers
I made these to take to our PSU tailgate. Prior to this weekend I had only had this recipe with the peppers being baked in the oven, so I was a little nervous about how this would go on the grill, but it worked out great. I prepped all the peppers in Virginia, meaning I had them all sliced and stuffed, and then just grilled them at the tailgate. So these are a great make ahead snack for any occasion. And if you choose to bake them instead, just place them in the oven for about 15 minutes at 425. They were a huge hit, so I highly suggest this simple recipe.

Ingredients:
3/4 pound pork sausage
8oz cream cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
50 jalapenos

Directions:
Brown sausage in a skillet until cooked through. Set aside to cool. Slice jalapenos in half lengthwise. Clean out seeds. Combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and sausage. Fill eat jalapeno half with cream cheese mixture. Place stuffed peppers on the grill until the pepper is soft and filling is bubbly.

Homecoming!

Last weekend Matt and I joined my family in State College for Penn State's homecoming game. I don't think I have been more excited for a weekend away for a long time. It's no secret how much I love Penn State, but I was extra excited since we were all going for the same weekend and we were all going to the game. Matt and I also took Friday off so that we could go to the homecoming parade. That turned out to be a big flop, but I did get to do a little afternoon bar tour with my brother-in-law and his parents, eventually to be joined by my parents and sister, while Matt studied in the library. Worth the vacation day.

My aunt, uncle, and cousins also joined us for tailgating!
Saturday we spent all day tailgating. We had so much great food. This year our tailgate had the addition of a tailgate pizza oven. Tailgating is so interesting. I feel like the stakes get higher every year. I would love to be independently wealthy (for a lot of reasons) to be able to travel around and tailgate at different colleges to see what they do.

Tailgate pizza oven
This year for homecoming we played Michigan. After losing by 20 points to Indiana the week before I don't think people had a whole lot of hope. Naturally, being the Penn State football optimist, I knew they were going to win. What I didn't know is that it was going to be one of the best games I have ever attended. I would also like to note that during this game we were completely surrounded by Michigan frat boys. It was one of the most annoying situations I have ever found myself in. Things started looking up when we took an early lead and the frat boys quickly lost their luster. The massive amounts of alcohol they were drinking all day also started catching up with them and they were fighting falling asleep and/or vomiting for the entire second quarter. After we got through that, the game was awesome. It started looking bad at the start of the second half when Michigan caused some turnovers and took the lead, but Penn State never gave up. At the end of regulation they drove the length of the field to send the game to overtime (four overtimes really). Let me add that Christian Hackenberg is no joke. That kid is going to be ridiculous over the next few years.

Blue Band at halftime
I was ecstatic they won! I am also so happy we took the weekend to go away for this game. I actually went back to work happy on Monday. I am currently ranking this as my third best game experience in Happy Valley. I will never forget one my first ever Penn State games in 2002 (my freshman year!) when we played Nebraska. It was by far the sickest football game I have ever attended. Beaver Stadium was so loud, and it was such a huge game to win, and I was in the student section which is the best place to sit in the stadium to get the full effect of Happy Valley if you ask me. A close second would be the PSU vs. OSU game in 2005 (my senior year!). Both teams were ranked. PSU had 2 rough seasons my sophomore and junior years...there was big hope in Happy Valley that we might get to BCS bowl. Again, Beaver Stadium was continuously loud. When they played zombie nation that year there was a constant feeling the stadium might collapse. I can remember each of those two games so well.

While this weekend was so good, it was also nice to come home to a grown up house and lifestyle. I did find myself laughing a lot this weekend about the way life use to be. When we were out and about in town it was just so funny to look at and observe some of the things that you forget are so "normal" when you a college student. My favorite was seeing 3 girls come out of a single bathroom stall. At first I thought to myself "what the hell." Then I remembered I use to do that. When you are 21 that's where all of your most philosophical and profound conversations use to happen...in the stall of a bathroom, in a dive bar, at 1 a.m. I think I can happily say I'm enjoying my new higher standard of living, but having my biggest responsibility be getting to the football game on time, or making it to class would be nice.

Friday Love

I got so carried away with number {ONE} on my list that I forgot to post {Friday Love}...so here's a little Sunday love!

{ONE}

As you are reading this you should know that I am being reunited with so many of my greatest loves. Matt and I are joining my whole family in State College this weekend for Penn State's homecoming game against Michigan! I am seriously so thrilled. I am really, really hoping that I bring some of that Happy Valley air back with me to Virginia. I am sure this trip will warrant it's own post in the future, so enough on that for now.

{TWO}

THIS SONG.

{THREE}

In last week's Friday Love I mentioned my new addiction to New Girl. Well, another show I got addicted to through Netflix is Parenthood. Does anyone else watch this? I never hear anyone talk about it, but I think it's pretty good.

{FOUR}

Pumpkin cookies. A great fall recipe. I actually made these last night to take for out tailgate at PSU. Let me tell you (again) I am not a pumpkin fan, but these cookies are ridiculously good.

{FIVE}

Arm knitting. I saw a picture of scarf I really liked on Pinterest a few months ago, so I clicked on it. Turns out some chick "arm-knitted" it. I decided to give it a try. It turns out it's super easy. Again, I think I can write a whole post on this. Maybe I will quit my job and become an arm-knitter.

The Warm Up

I typically call the week before school starts "warm up week." You get back into a schedule, but you have a little more freedom with your lunch time, social schedule, etc. This week was one for the books. I'm not going to elaborate. All I can say is this was the most unpredictable, ridiculous week in the history of my professional back to school career. I will leave it at that. Here's to hoping things don't continue during the actual school year, and that the current state of education gets it's act together pronto.

In more positive news this is also the warm up weekend for college football. It's the one redeeming quality of back to school season. Matt and I are in Pittsburgh this weekend to spend some time with my family. I'm excited to watch Penn State in Pennsylvania with my other PSU faithful, even if they are that playing in New Jersey this weekend. I just love Penn State so much! And I love watching College Gameday on Saturday mornings in the fall! WE ARE!!!!!

$12,374,034.46

"This weekend … This weekend is the greatest event that happens on any college campus anywhere in the world, and without that, all of you Penn State students, alumni, you know you’ll hear what we’ve had to deal with from people at other schools. But I can tell you, don’t you ever, ever back down from the name Penn State. Don’t you ever back down.

Penn State is the students, it’s the pride, it’s what you do for others. That’s what makes us unique. That’s what separates us from every other school in America."

-JAY PATERNO.

THON

Eight years ago I stood up in Rec Hall and didn't sit back down for 48 hours. This weekend 700 more dancers will do the same. This is Penn State. For the Kids. For the Glory. FOREVER. WE ARE.

Watch a live feed all weekend here.

Sunday Love(s)

It's been awhile. Soooo to make up for it this will be a multi-topic long post. Sorry! Nothing is really going to be related to each other so bear with me.

1. Penn State. I have contemplated for the past few weeks about writing a post on this season of football. It's been an incredibly emotional year to be a Nittany Lion. I decided against writing a post about it because in the end the haters are going to hate. I am very proud of this years team, however. And yesterday on Facebook my sister really summed it all up:

"I am so proud of Penn State. W. Soccer is going to the championship game, Wrestling and W. Volleyball are #1 in the country, Bill O'Brien is Big Ten Coach of the Year (no doubt because of his and the players commitment to each other) and we are approaching another February where students will dance for 46 hours to raise millions in the fight against pediatric cancer. This just scratches the surfa
ce of Penn State. I hope with each accomplishment the haters and critics feel a bit more idiotic about things that were said over the last year and I have no doubt students and alumni will grow prouder and become more "obnoxious" to the outsiders. But, who knows, I hear its all about football at that school..."

2. Thanksgiving. We had a very enjoyable trip to Boston to visit Matt's family. Although we were nervous about what airport travel could bring, everything went very well and the flights and airports were all that packed in my opinion.

3. School. The BES bears are restless! I typically have lots of events the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it has been quite busy in the mental health department. I might have to pull out my direct access to Santa ASAP. Did you guys know that Santa can listen through the intercom in every classroom?!? This is probably not PC.

4. Christmas. Today we got all of our decorations up. And this Thursday I am going to the National Tree Lighting. My friend at work had an extra ticket and invited me...we have actual seats. I will get to see Michelle, Sasha, and Melia's outfits up close and personal! Pictures to come!

Long Time, No Blog

TEN DAYS and no blog post!!! Can you believe it? Maybe you can since my blogging habits have seriously gone by the wayside this summer. I did seriously intend to write a post 2 days ago then ran out of time, and then yesterday I even sat with my computer with the blog page open, but guess what happened? Yep, my antique, original MacBook Pro deciding blogging was far too much for it to handle. And even now I am using Matt's computer so I don't have to wake mine from it's slumber and argue with it. This is a problem I fully intend to solve before getting married. A new computer is going to happen ASAP.

Anyway, speaking of wedding. Last Thursday night we traveled to Pittsburgh (I can't believe this was a week ago) to get our last wedding details taken care of. We got our marriage license, I had my dress fit, I wrote a lot of emails, finalized numbers, etc. It was busy. I almost had my first official, full-on bridal meltdown on Monday morning. I had to get my hair trial done which I didn't want to do in the first place, but I sure am glad I did. It was a hot, hot mess. I made the poor girl redo it since it looked like I was going to the 8th grade dinner dance. The second time was only slightly better and still not what I asked for. This is when I almost freaked out, but somehow held it together. The third time it was going in the right direction, but not quite there. I'm sure I was definitely talked about the rest of the day. Bridezilla.

I guess the other main highlights include the Penn State sanctions (maybe we should say lowlight)...I'm sure you can guess my thoughts on this. I think I've decided not to blog about it. I'm accepting it and moving forward because I believe that Penn State is Penn State. We will prevail.

Lastly, I only have six days of babysitting left this summer. I'm excited for a nice vacation, but at the same time I will (sort of) miss my little friends and this also means summer is flying by way too fast. I hate that! I think those are my main updates for now. More reliable posts to come post computer renewal!

Who is the Real Trustee?

This question, posed by Phil Knight, still stands to be answered. Today I got an email from the Penn State Board of Trustees. Why in the world they continue to dig themselves deeper in the hearts of true Penn Staters continues to amaze me. Why we are entrusting the good name of our university to those fools who continue to drag it through the mud goes beyond what I can fathom. My favorite parts...their complete slander of Graham Spanier, their further justification of the firing of Joe Paterno, their clarification of the now legendary phone call to end Joe's career, and the ever present lack of responsibility for their own contributions to this crisis.

I don't even really like Spanier and I'm offended for him. If the BoT truly believed that Spanier was so out of line in his leadership in the days preceding his firing...what took so long to get him out? And if the Grand Jury report states that Paterno/Spanier/Penn State has done nothing wrong or illegal, then what gives the BoT the right to say Spanier took insufficient action?

The illegitimacy of the Board of Trustees is most obvious between their first and second statements on Joe Paterno. The first deeming him a legend, a model of grace and generosity for other universities. The second blaming his poor leadership, his moral failures for the despair of the Penn State nation. When will the BoT take some personal responsibility? If we the alumni, the students, and the community rely on them for put the needs of our university first, to protect the integrity of Penn State, why didn't they know more about what Spanier was doing November 5-9, or what Sandusky was doing in the locker room, or more about the day to day procedures of the athletic department? Take some responsibility!

Finally, the phone call. Seriously? You're really going to say you couldn't make your way across campus, literally a 15 minute walk, to tell a man that had given 61 years, probably built the building you were sitting in, that you are firing him? Cowards, classless idiots. You couldn't face the media storm you put in front of an 85 year old's home to personally deliver that message? You are the moral compass that Penn State is supposed to look to now? I think not.

Like Sue Paterno said...he deserved better. And so do we.

Strength.Honesty.Wisdom.Courage.

Seven years ago today I stood up in Rec Hall and didn't sit down for another 48 hours. It was awesome. This weekend 700 people will do the same thing and countless Penn State students will help them make it through. Penn State Dance Marathon (THON) will be held this weekend at the Bryce Jordan Center to help raise money to find a cure for cancer. This is the largest student run philanthropy in the world. It's what we mean when we say WE ARE PENN STATE. It's completely indescribable until you have been to your first THON. I encourage you to go to THON's website this weekend and view the live video. I can't wait to report about our grand total on Sunday night!
